Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Sunshine Audio music.

Getting Started

Is Sunshine Audio really free?

Yes. Every track on Sunshine Audio is free to download and use. We do not charge licensing fees or require a subscription. All you need is a free account.

Why do I need to create an account?

An account lets us keep track of your downloads and provide you with a record of what you have licensed. Registration takes under a minute and requires only an email address.

What audio formats are available?

Tracks are available in high-quality WAV (lossless) and MP3. WAV is recommended for professional video and film work. MP3 is convenient for most online content.

Using the Music

Can I use the music in commercial projects?

Yes. You can use Sunshine Audio tracks in commercial videos, advertisements, films, podcasts, apps, games, and any other commercial project without paying any fees.

Do I need to credit Sunshine Audio?

No. Attribution is not required. If you would like to give credit, you can use: Music by Sunshine Audio — sunshineaudio.org

Can I edit or modify the tracks?

Yes. You are free to cut, loop, layer, or otherwise edit the music to fit your project.

Can I use the music for YouTube videos?

Yes — but there is an important limitation. All tracks on Sunshine Audio are registered with Content ID (CID). This means your video may receive an automatic copyright claim and you will not be able to earn ad revenue from it. The video will not be taken down, but monetization will not be available. If monetization matters to you, please do not use our tracks.

Can I use the music on Twitch or other streaming platforms?

Yes, you can stream content with our music on Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and similar platforms. Content ID claims may still apply on platforms that use automated detection.

Can I use the music in a video I am selling or distributing commercially?

Yes — in film, TV, advertising, or any paid production. The music license travels with the project. You do not need to notify us.

Content ID & YouTube

What is Content ID?

Content ID is YouTube's automated system that scans uploaded videos for copyrighted audio. When a match is found, the rights holder can choose to block the video, track its views, or collect its ad revenue. Sunshine Audio tracks are registered with Content ID, so YouTube may claim your video.

My video was claimed — what do I do?

A claim does not mean your video will be removed. It means ad revenue from that video goes to the music rights holder rather than you. You can acknowledge the claim and keep your video up. If you need monetization, we recommend using music that is not registered with Content ID.

Can I dispute the Content ID claim?

You are welcome to dispute the claim and include a link to sunshineaudio.org as your source. However, the claim will likely be reinstated because our tracks are legitimately registered. Disputing will not restore monetization.

What You Cannot Do

Can I resell or redistribute the music files?

No. You cannot sell, distribute, or share the audio files themselves as standalone music products. The license covers use within your own projects only.

Can I upload the tracks to other music platforms or stock libraries?

No. You cannot upload Sunshine Audio tracks to Spotify, Apple Music, stock music sites, or any other platform as your own music.

Can I claim the music as my own?

No. You cannot claim authorship or copyright ownership of any Sunshine Audio track.
